About Taylorville
Taylorville, Il is a wonderful small city about 30 miles southeast of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.  It's a great place to visit and a wonderful place to live. We have great restaurants, entertainment, a par 72 golf course on our lake, theatre, a top-notch medical community and hospital, an excellent public libary with Internet access, and best of all, friendly people.  We have all the things that make small-town living so wonderful!

Taylorville was first settled in the 1830's and has a rich history of agriculture and coal mining.President Abraham Lincoln practiced law in Taylorville as part of the 8th Judicial Circuit, and we are proud to have preserved the original courthouse in which Lincoln tried cases.  We have a Coal Mining Museum filled with artifacts and photos from our long coal-mining history.
