Live Blues Festival

VOODOO BLUES BAND
Starting at noon until 3 pm
The Voodoo Blues Band is a six-piece band, featuring Raul Consuegra on lead guitar and vocals, Eric Marshall on piano, Craig Thornton on bass and Michael Howell on drums, with Rob Endicott and Will "Blind Willie" Dineen combining for a two-piece horn section that emulates the famed Memphis Horn sound that put Stax Records and Muscle Shoals on the map. (You don't see many bands these days with a real, functioning horn section, but Willie and Rob have been grooving together for over three years---and it gives the band a unique sound that you don't hear much of these days but that audiences love.) Raul leads the band with verve and style, and it features soul/R&B classics, funky jazz tunes, and, of course, its signature gut-bucket, raunchy blues with that slide guitar sound and boogie piano on top.

The Kilborn Alley Blues Band from Champaign.

From 3:30-6:30
The Kilborn Alley Blues Band from Champaign. This five-piece band with 3 guitars and a harp player has gained regional recognition, recently playing at the Alamo’s Blue Monday, throughout Central Illinois and in Chicago.

The band does gritty Chicago blues and southern fried soul for all the generations of blues lovers. This music speaks for itself; better still, it convinces you to listen.

SOULARD BLUES BAND

Headlining at 7-10:30 pm
After 25 years and many incarnations, the Soulard Blues Band - arguably the hardest working bands around - still tears up the town one show at a time. It is not every band you run across that has a mission beyond just steady giggin', but then again, as one of the longest-lasting acts around - and with many wins in the "Best Blues Band" category in a popular St. Louis poll - the Soulard Blues Band is not just any band. Expect an exciting mixture of R&B, New Orleans, Zydeco, and St. Louis jazz. The fact that they were on the stage with Albert King, Albert Collins, Son Seals, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds...is the proof that they are real and bring distinct quality. As bassist and sole remaining founder Art Dwyer will tell you, "Our mission always is just to leave things around a little better than we found 'em."

And we’re cruisin’…

From the Taylorville Square Our traditional Farmers Market on the Square is hosting a classic car show Saturday morning that will cruise to the fairgrounds for a viewing of our classic cars. We are fortunate to have a great contingent of Classic Car enthusiasts in Taylorville including Don Marsango, Alan Collebrusco & Larry Sutton.
The Car Show will start on the Taylorville Square At 9 am and Cruise to the Fair Grounds at noon.

"Bring Your Hog To Taylorville"

BBQ

Our recipe for success starts with our assigned Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned Cook-off that will bring the nationally recognized barbeque competition to Taylorville. As part of the prestige of the KCBS they send authorized reps to oversee the judging and to help develop the event. We are posted on the KCBS web site and already have contacts from BBQ Contestants and BBQ Judges.

Our BBQ Cook-off event will be split into two divisions:

1) The KCBS sanctioned, professional event will attract the major barbecue experts. These participants travel the circuit throughout the country seeking Championship status for state and national ranking.
Our event offers an attractive $5000.00 purse that is impressive for a first year cook-off.

2) We will host a local event for amateur BBQ event that promises to be fun and full of surprises prizes.
